Honoring the Life and Legacy of

Talese Linton

Phenomenal She mourns the loss of our beloved Board Member and Treasurer, Talese Linton.

Talese joined the Phenomenal She Board in April 2020 and quickly became an invaluable part of our organization. Although she served as our Treasurer, her contribution extended far beyond her title. She helped ground our board with her wisdom, organization, positive attitude, and steady belief in the vision of Phenomenal She. She led with kindness, supported those around her, and brought a smile that could turn anyone’s day around.

Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Talese was deeply devoted to her husband, Robert, and their blended family of four sons, four daughters, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson. Her love for her family shaped her understanding that every person possesses their own unique talents, ideas, and passions—and that each deserves to be recognized, supported, and encouraged.

Talese carried that belief into her service with Phenomenal She. She understood how important it is for young women to grow up knowing their worth and believing in what is possible for their lives.

In her own words: “I want every young girl to know all things are possible. It does not matter where you came from or what obstacles are put in your path. What is key is knowing you are capable and you are worthy and not letting people hold you back.”

Those words reflect the heart of Talese and the legacy she leaves within our organization. She saw the importance of our mission, believed wholeheartedly in our girls, and generously shared her time, experience, and heart to help Phenomenal She grow.

Talese’s absence will be deeply felt by our board and throughout the Phenomenal She community. We are forever grateful for her service, friendship, and unwavering support. As we continue our work, we will carry forward her belief that every girl is capable, worthy, and phenomenal.

We extend our deepest love and condolences to Robert, their family, and everyone whose life was touched by Talese.

Rest peacefully, Talese. Your impact will always be a part of Phenomenal She.

Our Mission

To provide mentorship encouragement, and empowerment to young women of color by building confidence around education, social awareness and self-esteem.

Before PS I had a lot of questions on life and what the real world had to offer, as well as the obstacles it would throw at us. Being a girl is hard to say the least. So, imagine being one of color. By being around strong black women and getting to converse on topics/ ongoing problems that we cam all relate to in some way felt very refreshing. PS has taught me many skills that I can apply to my life, has gotten me to set & accomplish my goals and given me the confidence to face it. "

About Us

Phenomenal She (PS) is a community based non-profit organization that has a mission to provide mentorship, encouragement, and empowerment to young women of color by building confidence around education, social awareness, and self-esteem. PS has partnered with King County’s Best Starts for Kids Grant and will be able to intervene/interrupt the School-to-Prison Pipeline by meeting with young women three times a week, offering, Life Skills and Development Workshops, Academic Support and Engagement, and group Mental and/or Behavioral Health Counseling sessions in both Federal Way and Des Moines. PS will help to uplift, motivate, educate, encourage, empower and build confidence in young women of color. PS held their second annual book drive June 2019 in which over 1500 books were donated to two schools in the Federal Way School District. PS’s board is comprised of six women of color come from all walks of life. The goal is to take all those life experiences and provide resources that will help motivate and encourage young women of our communities to be the most Phenomenal young women that they can be. PS envisions a society in which all young women of color have the foundations needed to break any glass ceiling they may encounter in society.

PHENOMENAL SHE EVENING OF ELEGANCE 2024

“The organization has consistently met and exceeded my expectations. Federal Way School District partners with several mentoring programs and, in my experience, Phenomenal She is the most responsive of them all.”
