Icea Pettigrew, board member

Icea co- founded the organization in January 2018. She oversees all aspects of financial operations including budget development, and preparation of financial statements. She is responsible for reporting to the Phenomenal She board, as well as the public.

Icea has over a decade of experience in financial records management in the healthcare field and private sector. Currently, she holds the position of Chief Financial Supervisor for PCNW Family Medicine in Tacoma, WA. A North Philadelphia native, Icea relocated to Federal Way, Washington in 2000, after experiencing the hardships of becoming a single mother in an impoverished community. She was determined to provide a better life for herself, and her child. Upon her quest to strengthen her life in Washington, she found that there were not many African American influencers and community leaders. After successfully achieving a thriving marriage of 13 years to husband John Bullard, and producing two successful children who now attend college, she is passionate about being the face that was missing along her journey.

Her personal experiences of abuse, poverty, and environmental pressures will allow her to identify with, as well as inspire young women into becoming leaders. She is passionate about creating a healthy support system focused on health care, self care, creative arts, as well as social change within King County.

One of the women who inspire her is author and motivational speaker, Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts. Her message also teaches to not allow insecurity, teen pregnancy stigma, and low self esteem define the rest of your life. Her passion is to also utilize her experiences to provide insight and encouragement to every soul that she encounters. They both share the same belief that every young woman should have the opportunity to evolve into the best version of themselves.
